All you are going to need is to remain dedicated and make your puppy the priority in your life. This might mean that you will have to forgo going out with your mates on occasion but if you really want to make it work with your dog then small sacrifices will have to be made!

You want to make sure that your puppy settles into your home and the best way to do this is to spend as much time as you possibly can with him. Trust me do this, and housebreaking a puppy will be one of the easiest things that you ever do!

Tops Tips For Housebreaking a Puppy and Maintaining a Full Time Job

Here are a few things that are going to help you stay grounded and motivated on your journey to housebreak a puppy. Trust me balancing a full time job and a puppy is easier than you think.

The very first thing that you need to do is invest in a crate. This create is your puppies domain and you need to help him understand this. Your puppy needs to appreciate that the crate is his domain in which he is safe. This way you are going to be secure knowing that your puppy is safe in the crate when you are away from home.

Believe me I’ve been in plenty of situations when I had to go outside for a while, so knowing that my puppy is safe inside his crate means that I will be able to do whatever I need to do without having to worry! However keep in mind that if you are going to be away from the home for 8+ hours then you shouldn’t put your puppy in the crate!

The reason that you can’t leave your puppy in the crate for this long is because it is too long for them to hold their bladders. They are going to need some time in between to go out and relieve themselves.

A great alternative to the crate for those of you out there that will be away from the home for many hours is to just section of an area of your home for the dog. You can do this by simply putting baby gates to create the area for your puppy. Be sure to place some toys and a bowl of water to keep him preoccupied while you are gone.

Now another tips for you to practice with your puppy is to take him outside before you leave your home so that he can get on with doing his business before you go. This means that he will not have to go to the toilet when you are away from the home.

Now I know that it is going to be hard at times to balance work with your puppy. However know that if you follow the tips that I’ve laid out here then not only is housebreaking a puppy going to be easy but you are going to develop a great relationship with your puppy for many years down the line!

Success Principles For Housebreaking a Puppy

housebreaking puppyRight now you may be in a position where you feel that housebreaking a puppy is the hardest thing in the world. However I am telling you from experience that if you are focused and apply the right principles then there is nothing in the world that can stop you from house training your puppy fast!

Here are some things you need to pay attention to:

1. Vet Check Up

The fact is that your puppy needs to be in pristine healthy condition if you want to be able to housebreak it really fast! This means that as soon as you bring your puppy home you need to take a trip to your local vet to have him checked out thoroughly.

If the checkup at the local vet brings up any health issues then your first protocol is going to be to get them sorted. Only after those health issues have been solved should you move onto the next step which is to housebreak him.

Things to watch out for are worms. Believe me I found out the hard way with my puppy. You need to make sure that you get all the tests that you can get so that you won’t be worried whether your puppy is in good shape or not.

2. Feeding Your Puppy The Best Food

You must make sure that you are providing your puppy dog with the best quality food that you can afford. I would definitely recommend that you feed him the best dry food if possible. You want to make sure that what you feed him is consistent. Don’t feed him food you would eat and please don’t keep trying different brands of food.

If for whatever reason you end up having to change the brand of food then you are going to want to do it very slowly. The best way to do this is to phase the puppy of the old food and slowly start feeding him the new brand. This way he will get use to what you are giving him, without getting shocked.

I would avoid feeding your puppy dog any canned food, simply because this is just going to result in your puppy producing loose stool which will mean that you are not going to be able to housebreak him.

3. Pay Attention To Your Puppy

Believe me if you are working on housebreaking a puppy anytime soon you need to pay attention to your dog! This means that you need to watch him when he is not crated inside the house. Believe me you only really need to look away for a couple of seconds for your puppy dog to relieve himself on your carpet! So when he is free and roaming around the house just watch for familiar signs that dogs give off when they need to go and relieve themselves. Signs include things like going around in circles, running around like mad, and even sniffing the floor.

4. Crate Puppy When Not Around

I am telling you that if you have a puppy then I would recommend that you put him in a crate when you are not around to watch over him. You are going to save yourself a lot of pain and frustration by doing so!

Believe me if you are using the crate as it should be used then it is a great option to prevent your dog from relieving himself all over your home when you are not around. Not only that but putting him in a crate when you leave the house will ensure that he is safe and secure and away from anything that can harm him.

But keep in mind two essential rules that you must apply when you are using the crate. The first is that you should not put your puppy in their for too long. And secondly you should never use the crate as a place of punishment! Believe me having a dog requires that you spend a lot of time with him so please keep this in mind before getting one!

If you are able to really and truly apply everything that I’ve laid out here, then you have successfully laid the foundations for housebreaking a puppy. Now you just need to breathe, take it one step at a time and move forward until you have achieved what you wanted to achieve with your dog. Trust me house training your dog is simple when you know how!
